Gaming Giant Tencent Introduces Midnight-Patrol Technology to Stop Late-Night Gaming

First, the company Tencent is rolling out facial recognition technology in an attempt to stop children and youth from late-night gaming between 10 PM and 8 AM. Until this point, younger players have been using adults’ IDs to play around the curfew. Now, with recent changes, anyone playing for a certain length of time will require a facial scan to prove they’re an adult. 

So, What Else is Going On?

Well, this isn’t the first time that China has tried to reduce purchasing of and playing video games. In fact, video games are often accused of having a negative impact on children. Furthermore, China began requiring all new titles to be approved by a regulator.
