How These Futuristic Pods Could Change Commuting
Because traffic is a global issue, some are turning to electric scooters and bicycles to skip the gridlock. Further, uSky Transport has designed and is testing futuristic electrically powered pods that transport up to 4 passengers simultaneously. While the current test line is only 400 meters, a fully implemented solution could carry 10,000 passengers per hour.Â
Modifications for Mobility
Despite the similarities to monorails and cable cars, these pods have greater flexibility, such as cabins for shorter rides or those for longer distances. Assuming that mobility and sustainability remain the primary focus, this technology could become commonplace.
Future Expansion
Later in the year, uSky will begin construction of a 1.5 mile-long line in Sharjah. Additionally, uSky was granted approval to build a line around the coastal town of Khor Fakkan to the east of the United Arab Emirates. Next in line for the company is cargo container transport – carrying a whopping 48 tons at 56 miles/hour.
In Conclusion
Lastly, it may be difficult for existing cities to implement pods, but for countries where public transportation is under-developed, uSky could provide these mobility solutions. If all goes as planned, these uSky futuristic pods will be running above traffic by 2024!
