7 Things We Hate About Technology
Even though we love having the ability to check social media almost anywhere, there are quite a few things that we hate about technology. For instance, when trying to message friends on the Discord app with unreliable WiFi can lead to you missing the whole conversation. Without further ado, here are the top 7 things we hate about technology.
7. Unreliable WiFi
As previously stated, one of our pet peeves is an unreliable WiFi connection. Though I mostly use my mobile phone for gaming, some use it for messaging their work associates. Whatever your primary reason for connecting, an unreliable WiFi connection can be incredibly frustrating.
6. Forgotten Passwords
Generally speaking, when it came to password management systems, we would recommend LastPass. However, after a recent software pricing update that limits free users to using only one device, that is no longer the case. Now, we recommend using Google Password Manager and Bitwarden.
5. Slow Downloads
Sometimes, when you’re walking dogs, you get the urge to catch ’em all. Unfortunately, if you haven’t played PokemonGo in a while, you’ll likely have an update waiting for you. Without unlimited data, this can be quite costly, but more importantly, dreadfully slow!
4. Why Doesn't It "Just Work"?
With how much mobile phones and smart devices cost these days, why do we end up paying for repairs and replacements so often? Well, the short answer is that technology is fragile. The “just work” phrase is one that can sometimes be traced back to the marketing teams we’ve spoken to.Â
3. Instancy is Expected
Growing up with Google (starting in late 1998) was a completely different experience compared to those that only had books at their disposal. When writing research papers and providing resources, I found that I had a near-infinite supply of them on the World Wide Web. Consequently, I, among many others, grew accustomed to having an answer almost immediately. Therefore, when mobile data began to grow in popularity, the game was already over.
2. Not Enough Disk Space
Whether you’re trying to install a suite of design software or Microsoft Office, if you have run out of room on your hard drive, you’ll need to do some paring. If you don’t have your files organized, this might take you several hours. Although, what better time than now to start sorting through your digital data?
1. Slow Internet
When you’re playing an MMORPG with your friends, the worst thing that can happen is your Internet speed taking a dive. Suddenly, the raid your squad was crushing has now completely destroyed your character, forcing your comrades to retreat! If only using an Ethernet cable was the answer…
In Conclusion
In conclusion, these are a few of the things we hate about technology. What about you? When your phone battery dies frequently does it grind your gears? Let us know in the comments below.
