Players Get a Good Look at GTA 6 as Hacker Leaks Gameplay Footage

GTA 6 Has 90 Gameplay Videos Leaked

Earlier this September, Rockstar Games fell victim to a lone hacker that goes by “teapotuberhacker”, who says they are also behind the recent Uber hack. What’s the damage? Quite extensive, actually: the post contained not only 90 videos from a test build of GTA 6, but also GTA V and GTA VI source code, assets, and testing builds.

Not Rockstar's First Rodeo

Followers of Rockstar Games may remember not too long ago when a settlement directed Trusted Reviews to fork over $1 million to charity after they released details about Red Dead Redemption 2 before its release. They were found guilty of lifting details from a confidential corporate document stating, “We should have known this information was confidential and should not have published it. We unreservedly apologise (sic) to Take-Two Games and we have undertaken not to repeat such actions again.”

What Does This Mean for Rockstar Games?

Luckily, most of the comments and feedback from the leak are positive, with players reacting with praise and “likes” on social media. Since no information, screenshots, or footage has been shared up until this point, most fans are excited to hear even the smallest details about it. First, the location, and second, a glance at the protagonists – a female character named Lucia and a male named Jason.

Take a Look for Yourself

As of 9/26/22, there are several videos on YouTube that contain all 90 videos from the leak. Clearly these are still in development, and it’s estimated that won’t be wrapped up for the next 2+ years. For now, however, you can get a loose feel for how the Miami, FL-based game is going to look by searching for “GTA 6” or “GTA leak”.

In Conclusion

While this is one of the largest leaks in video game history, it is not expected to negatively affect game development. Take-Two Interactive has already started filing takedown requests on YouTube, so as more time passes you can expect to see less of the videos/content. Videos that have been deleted will say, “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Take 2 Interactive”.

Until then, what are your thoughts on the leaked GTA 6 footage? Are you excited for the next game or are you still playing GTA 5? Let us know in the comments below!
