The New Way to Curate Your Recommendations
If you’ve used Netflix for a while, you’re probably familiar with the 5-star rating being replaced by thumbs up or thumbs down in 2017. Well, now Netflix’s new way to like is here – a two thumbs up button. That’s the equivalent of two likes, which helps you get closer to matches you’ll like.
Why the change?
Believe it or not, users have been clamoring for another way to “boost” films that they truly enjoyed. The addition of the two thumbs up gives us yet another user-focused experience to try in an attempt to reduce choice fatigue. Netflix’s director of product innovation and personalization experiences says that the new way to like is, “a huge part of where we want to invest — providing those mechanisms to give more of the control back to the user to help tailor their experience to their personal taste.”
In Conclusion
Netflix has shown time and time again that they are passionate about curating the user’s recommendations to the tiniest detail – by adding features such as the Top 10 and Continue Watching rows. Two Thumbs Up hasn’t been here very long, but we can already tell you how we feel about it…
